Josie's Cabin

For Daytons birthday and our 6th anniversary we went up into split mountain to Josie's cabin. It was really fun. We also wanted to go to the quarry but it was still closed. There was a road tour that explained all sorts of things along the way

This was our first stop. Over behind the car is the river so we ate some lunch and walked down by the river and saw a flock of geese. Below is Dayton and Dayson walking over to the river. i absolutely love pics of father and son walking somewhere hand in hand

This was our send stop. Dayton made fun of me cause i've never seen an ant trap. but thats what this is. I think he called em ant lions make this hole and wait for an ant to fall in and then snap. Lunch lol
me and my boys .
Here we are going to look at a bunch of hieroglyphs. in the guide book it said that the Indians up here had alot more time to paint and play cause of the rivers abundant sources of food w. fish and being able to garden.

Here is Ean at Josie's cabin. I just realised i don't have any pics of the the actual cabin. Josie moved into the cabin and built it all by herself in 1914 and never moved away. She had no power and did everything like it was still 1914. Being so remote actually is what killed her. She went out to water her horses one winter and one kicked her at i think she was 90, and she broke her hip and died cause no one found her. Another amazing story Dayton told me is there is 2 huge box canyons that she used as natural corrals. he said she would hide bandits up there from the law. Found this interesting http://www.utahoutdooractivities.com/josiemorriscabin.html and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Josie_Bassett.

Above we are standing by her water source. and i cooled my poor preggo mama feet. though you can't tell i'm preggo just gotten fat lol. We walked a lil way up into the box canyons. It was really cool to see how she could keep her animals up there w. one lil fence.

On the way home there is a gift shop w. a dino outside w. a saddle so we put the kids on the saddles and took pics. It was really fun. and great way to spend the day as a family
